Vast Army
Are you facing a vast army today? Our mentors are here to help.
“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you” ((2 Chronicles 20:12).
Jehoshaphat was up against an army far greater than his own. He cried out to God.
Sometimes life just makes us feel like we’re stuck. We get caught in lose-lose situations. Our inner voice says that God is in control in these times, but if you’re like me, you cry out, “GOD! What are you doing? I don’t know what do to! Where are you?”
Jehoshaphat cried out to God, but he cried out in faith. Even though he didn’t have any idea what to do, he said, “our eyes are upon you.” God responded to Jehoshaphat’s cries through Jahaziel, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
When you are surrounded by impossible situations, it is so awesome to know that these battles aren’t yours to fight. They are God’s. You aren’t doing the fighting. He is. He is giving you the strength even when you are trapped by situations bigger than yourself. He is bigger and stronger than those situations.
If you are trapped today in a mess of impossible situations, I know tossing Biblical truths and encouragement that’s been heard before won’t help.
Joni Eareckson Tada said in a lecture, “You can’t stop the bleeding heart with reason and answers. When a person is suffering, all they want to know is that Daddy is here.”
He is here. He is fighting for you when you don’t realize it.
He was there for Jehoshaphat. Read the rest of the story in 2 Chronicles 20. Jehoshaphat won the battle, but in a way that was only possible with God.
Questions: How do you react in impossible situations? What truths are being spoken into your life that you are having trouble hearing because of your situation?
Yolanda, my heart definitely goes out to you! I cannot even imagine the pain that You are going through. But we do have online mentors here on this site that would love to walk this journey with you and may have walked a similar journey. Just fill out the form on this page and someone will email me and pray for you. http://powertochange.com/discover/talk-to-a-mentor/
Yolanda,
Please go to http://www.rejoiceministries.org. This is a legitimate website that I go to everyday. We have to fight for marriages, we have to believe that God is more powerful and he will change peoples hearts. He changed Saul into a Paul, He can change anyone even a murderer of Christians.
I am standing for my marriage and for the awesome miracle that God will perform. The Lord will fight if you are willing to fight with Him, and what I mean by fighting is being a prayer warrior and becoming closer to our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
interesting article
God has definitely been speaking to me this week as this is not the first time I am reading 2 chronicles 20 this week. I have been going through a very dark period of uncertainty and doubt up to the point of giving up. Inspite of all my prayers i felt so lost and my heart was extremely heavy. The morning of the the 14th I woke up with this song in my head that we used to sing in Sunday school and what is amazing is that I have not heard nor sang the song in years. Part of it goes “Stand back and see what the Lord will do for you”. This really did encourage me and then two days later God led me to a bible study on solving our problems through prayer and lo and behold, the key verse for the study was Jehosaphat’s story. I share this to encourage others that God does listen to us and at just the right moment He will give us the answers or encouragement we need and fight our battles for us just like He did for Jehosaphat. As Jehosaphat was praising God for the victory, God sent confusion to the enemy camp and they turned on and completely annihilated each other. When Jehosaphat and his men got the place that was mentioned in the prophecy, not a single person from the enemy camp was alive! So when we come upon the place that God has set for us, we too will find that doors have been opened for us and favor with the right people has been granted already. God is good and He will fulfill the great plans that He has for our lives. Let us then stand back and trust Him completely allowing Him to fight our battles for us. Our eyes are upon You O Lord! Show us the way to go. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Yolanda,
In times of severe pain is when we grow the most. I distinctly remember crying out to God why is he making me go through this intense pain and suffering. I went with my parents on a holiday to the mountains and I went for a walk and lay in our boat looking up at the night sky as the boat was was tied to a dock and rocking back and forth. I looked up in the extreme darkness as it was past midnight extremely dark with cloud cover. I remember this as it was yesterday as the moon started to shine through when the clouds broke. I understood then that even though it was very dark in my life during this period like the sky and many clouds that were in my mind however the light was still there even though I was unable to see it. There are no words to describe the pain of divorce however I was a very weak Christian at the time and it laid the foundation for to build a stronger relationship with Christ. Read Psalms and Isaiah as I did there are amazing words that will be like ointment to your soul.
My estranged husband, who is almost 28 yrs military, informed me we were divorced and he is getting a divorce. We have been married for 22 yrs. I was told that the day b4 our youngest graduated high-school. I am saved but I am so lost and filled with pain.I see nothing but destruction coming my way.
I try to see the best and God leading even though it’s hard and I want to cry and scream. Truths being spoken into my life is learningk to trust God and keep the FAITH!! Because I doubt and waver at times and question myself but I am trusting God and holding firm to His unchanging hand!!
Thanks for this Sarah. Great analogy for our battles of this earthly life. It’s good to be reminded our Redeemer is always there and when we throw up our hands, He is there to hold them.
