Continual Harvest

See how one woman reached out to her community

“[A]nd those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest)” (Joshua 3:15, NKJV)

We are those who carry the presence of the Lord, when we obey (dip our feet in the edge of the river), harvest time ensues! Wherever we take those steps of obedience we can expect God to respond by bringing in an overflow of harvest.

That is not only a harvest (answers to prayer and the experience of God’s blessing) for ourselves, but it starts to overflow out of our lives into the lives of our family members, our co-workers, neighborhoods, and eventually our city and our nation. Where God is, life is. As carriers of the presence of God, we should always expect “life” to thrive all around us.

So often we think “I am just one person, what can I do?” But I am reminded of that old song that says, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me!” When we make a decision to live full out for Jesus and walk in obedience to Him, everything and everyone around us starts to receive the overflow. We can have a huge impact on our world when we make the decision to live a lifestyle of following Jesus. It really is not just “about us!” It is about us being a conduit for Jesus love for the hope of the world.

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 28 1-2, NKJV)

Questions: How can you have an impact on your family, friends, workplace and community?

One of the most unique things about the Christian life is the joy that the Holy Spirit brings. I find just by smiling that people will smile back and that gives me a chance to speak to them and share Christ.

The best way I can have an impact on my family, friends, church, etc…is to have a good and cheerful attitude. Without such it is nearly impossible to have an sort of postitve impact in the lives of others.
