No Room?

Written by Julie Cosgrove

Last month over 550,000 people came to our sites and of those, over 15,000 engaged in conversations and 1,500 indicated receiving Jesus.  This is incredible!  Funds are needed to continue to bring the message of Jesus to our world and aid Christians grow in their faith and impact their worlds for God. You can help make a difference in hundreds of lives by giving a gift at.

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”  (Luke 2:7)

Thus began our Lord’s life on earth, already rejected. He was out-cast to a stable even before he came into the world to save everyone in it who would believe in Him. There are some who argue a pregnant woman in labor needed privacy and this was the best place for her to be, and that may be valid. But the fact that Jesus is separated from God’s people at birth is juxtaposed with His crucifixion when He is once more isolated after his disciples had fled and the crowds screamed for his death.
Yet, God always finds a remnant of believers  - whether it’s wise men of another country and a few lowly shepherds at his birth or a few faithful followers crouched and weeping at the foot of the cross. Today, amongst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, a remnant will seek the Christ in Christmas.

A few will actually hear the message tucked into the familiar carols. Some will darken the church door for the first time in years.  Some will finally experience the true meaning of the season—peace. Peace in knowing God has come to earth to die for their sins and reunite them to Him for all eternity. That’s the best present of all.

This holy season, will you find room in the inn of your heart for Jesus, or push Him aside into an outer stable? Let Him be born in you and fill your holiday season with more than just the latest gadgets and parties. Don’t yearn for the fake images on the TV screen of happy-go-lucky people and families who always love and never argue. Seek the truer image—the one who is a man and also your God—who loves you as you are no matter what you have done or thought or said. You will have to seek Him. Even though His name is the “reason for the season”, He is so often lost in the shuffle of the holiday.

Take heed what the angels said – “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”  (Luke 10-11).

Come, let us adore Him.

Question: What efforts will you make to ensure Jesus is not shoved aside in your lives and those around you this Christmas?

Are you dealing with rejection in your life? Come talk to a mentor.

So glad that this year we are actively reinforcing the Advent season with our children. We are talking more about Jesus than Santa. My oldest (age 7) has known there is no Santa for the past 2 or 3 years. We explain it as something that’s fun to pretend about. I think that Christ’s second coming will be so powerful as He will not be rejected or pushed aside as every tongue praises His name.

Julie, You got it right when you said, “Come, let us adore Him.” Amen
