The Filling Station

“The Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things. There’s only one thing you need. Mary has made the right choice, and that one thing will not be taken away from her.’” (Luke 10:41-42 GW)
I suffered from the Martha syndrome for years; always busy working to get things accomplished. I was driven by my to-do list. Everything had to be perfect and in order. I thank God now for deliverance! I have come to a place like Mary’s and made the right choice. I now take the time to sit at the feet of Jesus, meditating on the Word of God, praying, and worshiping.
As believers we need to ensure that we take the proper time to refill. The local church is an excellent example. When we are planted in a local assembly it helps to keep our spiritual houses in order. We must be careful however that we do not replace the work we do for the Lord as our time spent with Him. The two are not the same. We are spiritual beings and we cannot operate on an empty tank. Just as a car needs gasoline to run properly, we need the Word of God.
Lord we can get so busy with life and miss out on the important things. Teach us, I pray, to come to You concerning our busy schedules and allow You to direct our paths. May we not neglect our fellowship with You nor our brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen
Take inventory today; if you have been neglecting your time of fellowship with the Lord make time to go to the filling station, your church, to be replenished.
