Bridget Gazlay

Bridget resides in the beautiful west Michigan. Her full-time administrative job is where she spends her days. But once home, she uses her creative side to design note cards made from fabric scraps and by writing devotionals for several ministries.

The amazing thing about her artwork is that Bridget never had any art classes growing up and only took one drawing class in her mid 20’s. She didn’t even know she could draw until God inspired her to use her leftover quilt scraps to make her first “fabric card” in 2000.

Granted, those first cards were simplistic in nature, but it got her creative juices flowing. Today, her drawing and designing skills have progressed way beyond her imagination! Every card she makes is a reminder that God is the “power behind her work”. She never knows for sure what the final project will look like until she puts the final pieces together. Each one of her cards can take anywhere from 5 to 18 hours to make. She makes color-copies of her original designs and turns those copies into note cards and prints.

Bridget thanks God every day for this gift and hopes that her work will inspire others to follow God’s leading – even when the path is narrow and unsure. Unbelievably, God blessed Bridget with her first craft book, Fabric Cards, which was published in 2005. She continues to design new cards and teaches workshops to women’s groups, church groups, 4-H groups, and patient groups. She also participates in local craft shows as time permits. Presently, she is prayerfully considering which direction God would like her artwork to go.

Not only does Bridget create artwork, she also writes devotionals about her life and how God works through her to touch others’ lives. She has been writing devotionals since 2003 for several online ministries and local entities. Realizing that others around the world could be reading these devotionals is absolutely amazing!

Bridget has the best of both worlds as she recently began putting “mini devotionals” on the back of each of her cards. She doesn’t know who will be the recipient of one of her cards, but if she can bring a smile or a word of encouragement to someone who needs it, then it’s all worthwhile.

Bridget’s overall hope is that her artwork and words will encourage others and bring them closer to God. Check out Bridget’s web page to see further details on how God is working in her life.

I knew a lot ABOUT God, but like many people, I didn’t think I needed God in my life. When I headed off to college, I started getting involved in weekly Bible studies, [...] Read More >
