GOD’S HEART

“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, NLT).

God’s “heart” or desire, is salvation for all people. According to Scripture, God expressed His heart of love to all mankind through the gift of His Son, Jesus.

God sent Jesus to die for our redemption. He wants everyone to be rescued and no one to spend eternity in Hell. When we personally discover this love and experience the power of being set free from the domain of darkness into His Kingdom of light, we long for others to be reconciled through this same grace. We catch God’s heart!

In turn, that “caught heart” of compassion and love compels and influences our prayers and lifestyle as we approach His throne. Since He knows best how to draw people to Himself, He is able to guide our prayers and actions to fulfill His heart for them.

“On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Matthew 9:12-13 NIV).

“… Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life”
(1 Timothy 1:15-16 NIV).

GOD’S HARVEST

“…open your eyes and look at the fields!  They are ripe for harvest” (John 4:35, NIV).

God’s Word informs us that the fields are “ripe” and “white” for harvest. Prayer opens our eyes to see this spiritual reality in the people around us where we live, work and play. Seeing allows our passion for the harvesting of their souls to grow. Our very own lives were harvested because someone saw our need and prayed, cared and shared Christ with us. God has a field of souls equally “ripe” and ready to discover and experience Him for the first time. He’s calling you to labor in the field to bring in that harvest. It is laborious to contend in prayer for souls, but prayer prepares us for the task of harvesting. Prayer cultivates in us a readiness to share what we believe. God needs workers who are willing to labor in His harvest with love, care and power. This is His idea for how we are to bring in and manage His harvest. When we look at it from this perspective, it is easier to understand the value of laboring together with others.

GOD’S TEAM

“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:19-20, NIV).

“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me” (John 17:22-23, NIV).

Nothing can replace the intimacy of personal prayer. That is where God meets us at the core of our being. But God also commands the blessing of His presence where there is unity. Power and authority are unleashed when groups of two or more believers come together in agreement in Jesus’ name about anything. At Breakthrough Prayer Ministry we refer to such groups as “God’s Team.”

When we pray together in one accord in agreement around a focused need as God’s Team, we discover spontaneous prayer that is directed by the Holy Spirit. The more we practice praying in harmony with others, the more we discover and experience how our prayers are used and directed for the advance of God’s Kingdom. There is nothing quite as exhilarating.

God is waiting for us to collaborate with Him to establish His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. What might happen if we did not fulfill this call to be His Team?

GOD’S WORD

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:17-18, NIV).

“For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12-13, NIV).

God’s Word is as powerful as a two-edged sword, and does not return without accomplishing His purpose. The earth and all that is in it were created by the power of God’s spoken Word. Jesus is the Word made flesh. When we declare, in agreement, His written Word back to Him and pray it over people and circumstances, His Kingdom rules. All power and authority has been given to us to wield and declare His Word in prayer into the spiritual realm, to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. In prayer we are able to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (see 2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV).

There is a divine reason we have a burden, or call to pray God’s heart and Word for people. We are all strategically situated for His plans and purposes to see Him, know Him and make Him known. We partner with Him when we respond to His will and way.

GOD’S IDEA

“It is godly people who give themselves entirely over to prayer. Prayer is far-reaching in its influence and its gracious effects… The whole person must be engaged in the matter of prayer which so mightily affects the characters and destinies of those who pray” (E. M. Bounds, The Essentials of Prayer, ch. 1).

Will you try to discover and experience afresh His Call, His Heart, His Word, His Team, His Harvest?

We believe God is assembling a mighty army of those who are willing and ready. This faith adventure in prayer ignites and unites us (the Church) and prepares us to be His pure and spotless Bride, ready for His return. We want to take to the wedding banquet as many in our sphere and field of influence as possible.

Be encouraged! God hears and answers the cries of His people. We pray your prayer faith will be sparked, ignited and united with God and each other to collaborate in His purpose, and to contend and persevere in prayer and evangelism for others in your city.

We pray you will be inspired to train well, my brother and sister! You are preparing for eternity!
