Success arrived early in Yuni Wong’s life. At 17, she wrote a weekly column for a Malaysian newspaper. Within four years, she had worked her way to being an art director at an international advertising agency.
“I was diligent and determined,” says Yuni. “Art has always been my love.”
That dedication to her craft propelled her career, but made a workaholic out of her. “My friends knew if they couldn’t reach me at home, I’d be at work,” says Yuni.
Yet 60-hour work weeks wore thin. In 1997, Yuni quit her full-time job to freelance from home, which gives her a more balanced life. “I have more time to read, to be with family and friends, and to become closer to God,” she says.
With her career change, her commitment to God remains strong. “I’ve stepped out in faith by choosing to be on my own,” she says, “and I’m trusting God to provide work opportunities.”

“When I was young, I had to prove to the world I was a smart-alec, that I was able to do it all,” Yuni says. “Now I’m more anchored, more content because God is more important to me than my success.”
