Why Jesus Came to Die

fiftyreasons1This series of articles is derived from John Piper’s “The Passion of Jesus Christ: Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die”. Here John discusses why Jesus’ death was so important. The following articles are but a few of the fifty reasons he gives behind the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The main goal of this series is to answer an important question: Why did Jesus suffer and die?

Why did Jesus die?

To Absorb the Wrath of God
To Please God the Father
To Show His Love for Us
A Ransom for Many
The Forgiveness of Sins
To Provide the Basis for Our Justification
To Heal Us from Moral and Physical Sickness
To Give a Clear Conscience
To Give Eternal Life to All who Believe on Him
So We Might Belong to Him
To Give Us Confident Access to the Holiest Place
To Bring the Old Testament Priesthood to an End
To Free Us from the Slavery of Sin
So That He Would Be Crowned with Glory and Honor
To Show that the Worst Evil is meant by God for Good
