Thank you much for sharing your story, I will be a grandmother too, my daughter is 17 yrs old and graduating this year. Praise God, she got accepted into 3 colleges for the Fall. If I did not have a relationship with God, who is so faithful, I don't know how we would have made it through. The Lord has blessed us so much. My grandson (yes, we found out it's a boy), we have a room for him, I bless God. Yes, I go with her to the dr's visit, I have seen my "pumpkin", it's awesome how God moves in situations like this and how I have come to rely on Him more and more.

Hi, Joan
What an amazing journey for all of you, I bet! As a mother of a girl, I totally understand the many mixed emotions you all had experienced!
I am a true believer that the worst that could happen to someone is actually death, rape, addiction, loss of health. Teenage pregnancy can complicate things in life, just because we are not prepared for them mentally and financially, it can threaten the future of the teenagers, their career, dreams, but I do believe that it is not the worst that can happen to my child.
Amber was very fortunate to have you all supporting her and the wonderful Hayden, and what brought success in her life was her willingness to turn her life around and be come a mature person with ideals and responsibilities. Is is a beautiful success story, and I'm sure it wasn't an easy time for any of you, but isn't it so wonderful that neither of you let an event like that estrange you, you all stuck together , and did the right thing: cherish the new life and God's blessings, as they should be : loving your life, our loved ones and making a difference in someone else's.

I always had a tremendous admiration for you as a professional, your warmth, your focus when you listen to people, your patience and love for God. It is so wonderful to discover a part of your life story, and to see that you did the right thing, accepting and loving Amber and Hayden with that unconditional love that only a parent can have.
As a woman who became a mom at a little over 36 years of age, after 6 miscarriages,I once wondered that if maybe I had got pregnant much sooner than 21 would have made a difference. I believe that we are given what we are, when we are, with whom we are, how we are, for a reason, as God is trying to make us learn something from all our life's experiences in order to make changes in our life, hopefully for the better. My second child came only 20 months after the first one, and believe me, it was the hardest period of my life from all points of view.I wouldn't take it back for a second, although I did think so many times that I could be less stressed out and a more pleasant wife to my husband had I continued my life as a Flight attendant for an International airline, flying to Australia, Europe, Hawaii, etc, instead of putting out fires between my 4 year old and my 2 1/2 year old, cooking, cleaning, eating whatever whenever, showering as fast as I can, whenever I can, and going crazy because the stay at home routine(which is anything BUT stay), and I can go on and on. Sometimes good things don't happen in the order we plan , or don't plan fro them to occur, sometimes they come after some sinuos, trying, disappointing detours of Life, but I am a strong believer that the way we can handle these unexpected events that can bring us up or down, not the events per se. I can only imagine how unprepared a teenage girl can be in handling that situation.
I was so impressed to read that Amber is making a difference in someone else's life, and return the gift of receiving. Not not many young women were as fortunate to have the supports that she had. I did mention to you one evening, Joan about the movie that I lead my life by: " Pay it Forward", and it's wonderful to see that Amber is helping a woman who needs her genuine help, as the ultimate beneficiary of her intervention will be the children....After all, it's for them we have the greatest, the most powerful and a sublime unconditional love for.
I wish you all only the best and the courage to always hold your Faith and chin up, and I believe you have what it takes to go through a sadder year in your life with a lot of Faith, love for the 3 losses you had last year.
I hope Amber and Hayden and your entire family knows how fortunate they are to have you in their lives.
And me, too, that I had the pleasure of meeting you and knowing you, a very special lady who always smiles and listens and provides such an amazingly friendly atmosphere at Mommy and Me(Alan calls it "My peeschool"! (: )
Love you!
