To the commenter above, it's impossible to reply to your question, because it is a loaded question. I don't agree that the Bible has "no factual or scientific backing." With regards to its factual accuracy, there are good reasons to trust the New Testament historical records ... see for example this free ebook on the topic: http://www.whyfaith.com/nt/ ... With regards to its scientific accuracy, it was not written as a science textbook, but since true science and true religion can never be in conflict, we shouldn't be surprised when scientists like Hugh Ross become Christians. I think a more appropriate question would be why read a 2000 year old book that has no factual or scientific background/backing.
