You are so right Char, it doesn’t help to just say that there is evil in the world because of the fall of man, nor does it give any comfort to the family and friends that have just suffered such a horrific loss. But the truth of the matter is that bad things do happen to good people, and the reason is that there is evil in the world. Personally I know that when those tough times come, it is my personal faith in a God who loves me and gives me the hope of eternal life that puts my problems here and now in perspective. Knowing that however doesn’t lessen the pain…it just provides a hope beyond the pain.

It is very difficult for the human mind and emotion to comprehend God in the midst of loss and tragedy and frequently faith is tested and lost when there seems to be no reason or answer to the suffering or loss. The old and frequent questions continue to arise as stated earlier in reference to God’s Omnipotence, Omniscience
and Omnipresence. It is so difficult to imagine the ‘reason’ or make sense in our humanity of such a senseless, horrible crime in the recent murder of Autumn Pasquale in New Jersey when we strive to understand God’s love, His sovereign will and love especially for little children. What possible words can comfort her parents at this devastating loss of one so dear? Was this horror known to God beforehand? Often the response is that there is evil in the world because of man’s fall, but somehow this does not comfort the loss of an innocent victim.

When faced with a health challenge does not mean that it is the end of life. One may be challenged healthwise yet blessed in many other ways such as social blessings, financial blessings, blessings of a wonderful family, job or business among other blessings. God may decide to ‘close’ the door of good health yet ‘open’ a door of abundant provision, a happy family or any other blessings.

It is all about faith. Like Andrew, he was to loose his limbs and not his life and everything he had. One may loose a job, business and still have all his or ler lilmbs and many other things. If I lost my toes yet God still blessed me with good health, a wonderful and loving family, a good job or business, good spiritual life, I would still serve Him faithfully! Lose of things is a process in life that we need to go through in order to know the faithfulness of the God that we serve! We need not despare because He has promised that through the fires and the waters He will be with us, thus, through challenging health conditions, He will surely be by our side!
