My Grandmother’s Faithfulness

Written by Collette Rowland

Well, I’m not going to dwell on how I used to be but how I am now. I am a completely different person. I live life every day trying to do my best in God’s eyes. I’m only thirteen years old but I am very active in church. I’m there almost every chance I get.

I was never interested in church before, but my grandmother would always call me every Sunday morning wanting to know if I wanted to go to church with her. Out of anybody that she could have asked to go with her, and it was me. I’m very grateful that she cared enough to almost drag me out of bed.

God has a plan

Then one year my Grandma’s friend wanted me to help with Vacation Bible School. I didn’t really want to but I did it anyway just to please my grandma. But what I know now is that God had a plan. He somehow had to make me interested in going to church. So during Vacation Bible School, I met this guy. And I do admit I started going to church to see him but at least I was there. But by going to church I learned the life I needed to live. I learned how much God loved me and how much I love Him.

I never actually knew the truth about heaven and hell. Just as a little kid, I thought that all you had to do was be a good person and you get to go to heaven when you died. Which I found out is much different than the truth. I had to ask to be forgiven and read my bible and pray. But I loved praying to God; it was the highlight of my night. God was my best friend and I talked to Him like he was my best friend, but of course in a much higher position.

He was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. As I grew in Christ I learned so much and found many loving people and friends at church. I felt like my life was so perfect even though it wasn’t. But everything was so good that I, being a human on this earth, could call it perfect and it was all because of God.

When I was at a youth convention I was filled with the Holy Spirit and was given the gift of speaking in tongues. It was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. And life has been so awesome thanking God for all that He’s done.

I know that some people might think that it’s too hard and too time consuming, but trust me, eternity is way more important than anything here on earth.

Let me leave you telling you how much I love God and how much He Loves You!
