Great points Artria! I have to agree that young children need bonding with their parents which will help reassure them as they grow older. And it isn't just with their mothers, but fathers are so important in children's lives. Watching our grandchildren long for their Daddy's attention when he walks in the door always brings a smile to my face!

I find myself explaining to family and even my own husband why I can not afford to stretch myself thin. I chose to be a mother. Until children reach school age and go off to pre-school for hours, I feel that they need bonding with their parents that will help reassure them as they grow and become more and more independent that mom and dad will be there to guide them where school does not. Babies, toddlers, they need the most from their parents. I also had a better chance to figure out how to be a parent during this time. After all, parenting is not easy. There is no perfect way. One of the best books of instruction, the Bible, can be confusing and there are many people who forget that raising a child is like raising yourself. Sure, if your hungry, you feed yourself, but what if your sad and you don't know how to get happy? What if your scared, but you don't know why or how to adapt and overcome it? Kids crave understanding, too. They need to know how to communicate their thoughts even if it doesn't make sense, acknowledging it as theirs is a part of owning themselves and their actions. Not just mothers, but they seek daddy's reassurance, guidance, love, etc. Too. We teach them so many things! Team work, prayer, eating habits and if u miss these important years its only getting harder as the get busier and more independent. Self esteem can Ward off a lot of peer pressure. Don't just assume daycare workers can cover all that.
