Excerpts from an Expert

Written by Vonette Bright

Use your home

I have learned through the years that there is no right plan, no perfect strategy to reach people. Each person is unique, and everyone needs the love, care and concern that fits his or her personality and situation. Meeting these needs is accomplished only when God uses someone who lives under His control and is willing to do His good pleasure.

We should not assume our neighbors know how to become Christians. There are times when we can be direct, and life-sharing helps us present the gospel in a clear, simple way.

We never want to compromise God’s eternal message, but the package in which the gospel is presented should always be attractive

(2 Corinthians 5:18). Being neighborly causes people to trust you and to be more receptive when a direct gospel message is shared.

Why are homes so essential? Because no matter how beautiful or warm a church building, it cannot match the intimacy and comfort a home offers. God wants us to surrender our residences to Him because He wants to use our resources to introduce people to Him, then lead them to the church.

I like what my husband, Howard, says about our role in witnessing: “The Lord never told the world to go to church. He told the church to go to the world.” When we make our homes available for His use, He blesses us.
