Light Your World
What’s the best Christmas gift you could ever hope to give? A gift of the gospel!
People’s hearts are more open to spiritual things during the Christmas season than any other time of the year.
To help you take advantage of the opportunities to share the Good News in your world, Power to Change Ministries has developed some fabulous tools-and creative ideas to use them.
- Gift baskets
Make up gift baskets to take to people who are in your world. Along with small items like a mug, hot chocolate, tea, homemade jam, Christmas ornament, etc. include the evangelistic materials such as A Christmas Digest and JESUS film in their language (available in 600 languages.)
- Kid’s Christmas party
Put together a children’s birthday party for Jesus. Invite children over to watch the video, The Story of Jesus for Children. Afterwards, serve birthday cake and give each child a copy of the video to take home.
- Evangelistic greetings to all
Stuff your bag full of Christmas Digest magazines, and make a point of giving one to each person you talk to while you’re out shopping and running errands. You can say something like, “I love Christmas and giving gifts. Just wanted to give you a little gift today…”
- Neighborhood Christmas party
Have an open house for your neighborhood. It is a great opportunity to touch base with people your neighborhood, including the unchurched.Invite neighbors to stop by for refreshments, say on a Saturday from 1-4 pm. As guests come and go throughout the afternoon, chatting and enjoying holiday goodies, offer them a gift as they leave.
Suggestions: A Christmas Digest, JESUS film, Josh McDowell’s book, More than a Carpenter. The week following the open house, go to the homes that didn’t come, tell them that you missed them, and give them the little gift. It’s a great way to build community!
- Christmas with friends
Join with some friends to host a Christmas gathering. The party features delicious holiday food, some spontaneous sharing of Christmas traditions, a brief, non-threatening talk on the meaning of Christmas, and an opportunity to receive Christ.
- A Creative Tool
Be creative! Here are some more ideas to get you thinking about how you might use A Christmas Digest to spread Christmas cheer everywhere.- Send one to everyone on your Christmas card list (instead of a card).
- Use a bright red bow to attach A Christmas Digest to a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and give as a gift to co-workers, vendors and customers.
- Order copies to give to seasonal visitors at special church services.
