Teresa, I feel for you. One question though... you said your husband is the sole provider. Have you ever thought of getting a job yourself? I worked part-time but when my husband became unemployed and subesequently under-employed I went to full-time and it got us through a lot. We still have school debt, but my kids have swimming lessons, etc.. and we have a nice place to live. It makes a huge difference in my mental outlook. I truly believe that my job has been God's provision for us. I know some people think the man should be the sole provider and this is from the bible but I don't think it's true. Husband and wife have always worked together and women should provide for their families too (Prov. 31). Fortunately we live in a time where women can make decent livings. Anyway, I don't know your situation obviously, so I don't know if you are physically able to work. Would you need childcare? Husbands can help with that if he's home and there are a lot of resources and tax deductions to make it easier. But I just don't want you to suffer needlessly and pin all your happiness on your husband. I did that for a while and it just led to major resentment.

Today is the second day of the novena to the Holy Spirit, which is the 9-day prayer arising from Pentecost when the risen Lord appeared to his disciples to give them the gift of the Holy Spirit.I had heard about it but found it online as well.
My story is much like those dear people above, but in our case my husband lost his 'good job' in the aftermath of 911. His business went bankrupt, and he lost his car and all of his savings. There is no pension.
He took any kind of car to help bring money in because we still have a mortgage. Then he developed back problems and severe dental problems due to a childhood of poverty and no dental care or proper shoes.
I have 3 part time jobs..I had 4 but I was fired from one of them which was a consequence of my being tired. Still my income won't be enough to sustain us much longer.
We eat mostly beans and tuna which are good foods, and thank the Lord they are still cheap.
I am looking to enter into prayer with you. Let us first of all thank God for His many blessings. Then, give us this day our daily bread.
Lord, do with me what you will!

Shree and teambar, thank you both for your prayers. I would like to join you now: Lord Jesus, You are our Help in times of trouble, our Strength and our Provision. Bless each one who has written in with Your all-surpassing peace, and grant that they be protected from the worry, fear], and anxiety of the enemy. May each dear person find their Hope in You, that they may be able to stand firm on Your Word and walk in Your love, joy, and peace regardless of their circumstances, knowing that You are their Sufficiency. O Christ, draw each one close to Your heart, and comfort them as they search for work, and may each one be satisfied to the glory of Your holy name. I pray these things in Your holy and precious name, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Teresa, your story touched my heart. I am going to pray for your husband's lungs and immune system to be strengthened. I'll also pray for relief for you and your family. Please don't give up or give in. I gave up a lot because of my chronic illness. I know how hard it is to search for a job with illness in the way.

First, just take some time out everyday to sit quietly. What I do is write a prayer of petition. Maybe you've already done this. If you haven't try it out. I write down every last trouble, worry and bill. I'll write pages upon pages if necessary. Then I fold it up find a river and toss it in and watch it float away.

I know it's not an immediate fix but it is therapeutic. You already know the drill about removing all anger, hurt, etc from your heart to become humble. This is a hard one for me. Forgiving people and moving on.

Just know that there are people praying for you out here in internet land.

:)

My husband lost his job on Friday for having chronic bronchitis and having to take time off. Now we have no medical insurance to cover his inhaler and medication. This is the third job loss he's had in the past year. I haven't been able to find a job to help out. We can't see God's provisions either. We are looking at losing our apartment because our lease is up for renewal and they are increasing the rent to where we won't be able to afford. This is taking a huge toll on our marriage and I'm sure we are on the path to divorce. A job loss like this is devestating. I know we aren't alone but it feels that way.

Teresa, I'm sitting here trying to think of what I could write and all I know is that silence is worse, so if this is a total disaster, I'm sorry but I can't read a message from someone who is obviously in so much pain and just walk away from it. I do not know why you have suffered so long. I can only imagine how hard it is to read about people who lost one job once, which is hard, but not as hard as what you have lived through. I would imagine it's similar to people who deal with infertility for six whole months before God gives them twins. Six months of infertility is hard, but friends of mine who have walked that same road for 12 years, still with empty arms, have suffered more.

So where is God when things just don't get better? I have to believe that He is still God. I have to believe that He is at work even when I can't see it, even when the things I have waited so long for seem nowhere closer than they were before. Why? Because nothing else makes sense. I can't picture a whole that is godless and completely random. I don't believe that God could exist but be cruel. I believe him when he says that he loves us. But I have about a million questions about what that love looks like sometimes. If I could explain God to you I would.

I do believe that God has plans for you - plans to give you hope and a future. If you can't believe it right now then let me believe it for you. I keep staring at this screen looking for words of wisdom and all I keep hearing is Pray. Just pray now. So let's do that.

Father, I know that you are God and I know that you can spell the world on a dime if you choose to. You are powerful enough to do anything, wise enough to see all the possibilities. I am not you and reading through what Teresa has been through just makes my heart ache. I know that you are familiar with her story, I know that you see the ache in her heart and the pain in her family. You say in your word that you count our tears and I believe that you know every moment that she has suffered. Just as she has prayed a thousand times before I add my voice to that and ask, please, that you would bring them some relief.

They're not asking for riches but they do need a miracle. You are a miraculous God. So we come to you. I've heard it said that faith is one more breath or one more step. There have been so many steps that one more feels like a mountain but I pray that you would give them the strength for one more and then one more after that. I'm sure that they have tried everything that they can think of so I pray that you would give the new ideas. If there's anything they've thought of in the past that seemed too unlikely or too scary show them clearly if that's the way they should go. It sounds like they're trying so hard to be careful with finances and diligent in seeking work. I pray that you would answer them. Thank you for having answers when we don't. Help Teresa to believe, to know, that you have not forgotten her. In your name, Amen.
