Who can attend a Weekend to Remember? Who will benefit from this conference?

Couples from all walks of life and in different stages of their relationships have benefited greatly from attending a Weekend To Remember. We regularly receive testimonies from couples stating how God has used the conference to bring them closer to Him and closer to each other.

The conference is open to everyone, whether you are dating, engaged, married (newly or for many years, happily or unhappily), separated, divorced, or remarried. The conference is a fantastic opportunity to get away and learn God’s plan for marriage and family.

At the conference, you can learn the solid, biblical foundation on which to build your marriage. You’ll learn how to resolve conflict in your relationship, express forgiveness to each other, respond to your mate in love instead of anger, and receive your mate as a gift.

The weekend’s itinerary also includes several separate sessions designed specifically for engaged and pre-married couples. We truly believe this conference is one of the best investments a couple can make in their marriage.

Is the conference just for Christians?

The conference is humorous, non-threatening, and offers practical marriage answers. This should be of interest to everyone.

Is the conference just for couples with serious problems?

Not at all. Approximately 20% of the couples who come are in bad shape, 70% have fair or good relationships, and 10% are doing great. At every conference, dozens of guests tell us that it saved their marriages. The conference offers hope and help to everybody.

How can I get a conference brochure?

To request a Weekend to Remember brochure, you can:

  • Download a copy
  • Call us at 1-800-247-3180
  • Write us at FamilyLife, 1708 Dolphin Ave, Suite 102, Kelowna, BC V1Y 9S4

Can we stay at home and commute?

As the FamilyLife Marriage Conference is a time to “get away for a weekend to remember,” we feel it is important to actually get away. Although it is not a requirement, we highly suggest staying at the conference location. Check our conference Dates & Locations for special room rates. Whether you stay in the hotel or commute, agree together to remove distractions. Entrust your kids to those watching them; stay away from squeezing in other appointments; unplug the phone; keep the TV off; and if attending with other friends, make sure to save most of your time for you as a couple.

How do we book a hotel and receive the special rate?

Applicants must arrange their own accommodations (see the Dates and Locations page for participating hotels.) Call the hotel and ask for the reservations department. Identify yourself as being with the FamilyLife marriage conference, then give the date of the conference to receive the discounted rate. You will probably be asked to guarantee your reservation with a credit card or advance deposit.

The hotel releases our block of rooms for public sale on the discount deadline for that conference. However, all hotel reservations are subject to room availability both before and after that deadline. We recommend you reserve your room as soon as possible.

Do verify the hotel’s cancellation policy in the event you need to cancel your reservation.

What is the cancellation policy?

Registration fees are refundable up to seven days prior to the conference, less a $25 per couple cancellation fee. Or, we’ll gladly transfer your registration to another couple, or to a future Canadian conference. If you are unable to attend due to unavoidable last-minute circumstances, please notify us in writing.

Do you provide childcare?

As a courtesy to other participants, we ask that children, including nursing infants, not be brought to the sessions. FamilyLife is unable to provide childcare during the conference.

Is it possible to attend or register for only part of the conference?

Each topic builds on the previous topics (see the daily schedule). Therefore, we do not offer partial registrations.

What should we bring, and what should we wear?

When you check in at the conference, you will receive name tags and manuals, which include space for taking notes. You will need to bring a pen or pencil. You may bring a Bible if you wish, but most Scripture passages mentioned during the talks are printed in the manual. As the temperature in conference ballrooms can be cold, you may want to bring a sweater. If you are interested, you will want to be prepared for purchasing resources from the conference resource center.

Weekends are casual in nature. Dress comfortably. We all have varying degrees of hot/cold comfort, so plan ahead by wearing short sleeves (even in winter months) and bringing a sweater or jacket (even in summer months).

Is food provided at your conferences?

The registration fee for the Weekend to Remember getaway includes all materials that you will need for the conference but does not include lodging or meals. When you make your room reservation, you can ask what services are included and if there is a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We hope you can plan to make Saturday night’s “date night” your special evening out but be creative the rest of the time about your meals in and out of the room as needed.
