A Wayward Son Returns Home Video provided by: Biola University
There comes a time in the lives of many young adults when they feel compelled to venture out on their own. Apart from parental supervision for the first time, they may engage in any and all manners of destructive behavior. Although they may long to return home, they may feel embarrassed. How can they go back? Grace goes beyond forgiveness to say not just “You may return” but “Welcome back with open arms.”

Forgiveness is never something that we can do in our own strength Nenna. Only with God’s help and his love at work in our life can we truly forgive and love another unconditionally which is what this video is all about.
Jonathan, you say that life is nothing like this video. This is a modern portrayal of the story of the prodigal son in the Bible and it’s hard to put everything that you mention into a 10 minute video clip. The point is however that there is a way to go home no matter how bad the situation they find themselves in. There is indeed ‘Grace that goes beyond forgiveness to say not just “You may return” but “Welcome back with open arms.” I’ve actually seen this in families around me and it is amazing to see love in action with grace.
really!! life is nothing like that. you don’t leave and live down the street from where you were raised, you don’t just come back and everything is ok. life happens and you always find yourself at a cross roads of choices. everyday sometimes minute by minute having to decide things. parent don’t let their children go that easy. if life was like this it would be like a tv show. solved in 50 minutes and everything is better. Credit scores, pregnancy, STD’s, selling the laptop he had, are all things that really happen. why water down how bad life can be. life again is a series of choices one much choice wisely and hope for the best that is all we can do. parents can guild choice but not make them for their children. i have seen war, death, made every wrong choice one could in life and everything else horrible in this world, but i have also seen love, foreign place, loved others and found peace, it comes through self reflection and finding a purpose for yourself. whether that is to simply eat food everyday or just have a roof over your head or make millions it doesn’t matter. find something to hang on to and be a “human doing” not just a “human being”.
