I have been having movie like dreams since I was 5. I am 30 now and like some you I feel I can write a movie. My daughter is 9 and she has same type of dreams. Some of the stuff she dreams are thing’s she doesn’t understand yet or are not on TV.

Rafael and Charlie, sounds like you have quite the vivid imaginations! It is interesting to try to figure out why we dream what we dream, and what it is that makes some people have such vivid dreams and others not have them.

Illness can contribute in some cases ie when a person is running a high fever they often have vivid dreams. Some medications also can contribute to more violent or bizarre dreams.

However in the case of this particular question the dreams were linked to issues in their childhood growing up and these are the kind of dreams that indicate that there are issues that we need to deal with in order to no longer have those dreams.

I have movie like dreams almost every night, sometimes with ridiculously complex plots even I couldn’t think of If I was writing it. I wake up feeling unrefreshed maybe even worse off than when I went to sleep, it is getting ridiculous heaving myself out of bed in the morning. Had a cool one the other day – zombie apocalypse movie, was crazy

this happens to me every night! its such a trip its just like a movie and it repeats sometimes. I get into some the weirdest adventures something you’d only see in a moviee i kinda like it haha its like im entertained while im sleeping.

So Ian and Matt (and anyone else who has vivid dreams) where does that come from? Is it a highly visual imagination or do you think there is another source? I know my wife gets frustrated with me because when she asks what my dreams are I have to respond, “Ummmm, I don’t remember.” That also happens when she asks me what I watched on TV :)

I have similar dreams. I have a very developed sense of self and am comfortable with who I am. I dont really think you need to go to a counselor.

Isn’t it interesting Stephanie, that we all dream in different ways and some in fact are so vivid that they seem real. Have you every written them out and tracked to see what you did that day?

My dreams are usually unbelievably vivid. Not many are nightmares, because they don’t feel like movies. But the “good dreams” are beautiful and teach whole life lessons on love, religion, and hope. These dreams I am able to write screenplays for. I have more than once woke up from these dreams thinking “that could be a movie”. I’m never upset with these dreams. They’re so beautiful. I just want to know where they are coming from.
