My husband thinks I’m going to leave him

Written by Dr. Ginger Gabriel, Ph.D., M.F.T

leavehusbandMy husband worries constantly that I’m going to leave him. We’ve only been married eleven months and although I tell him I won’t leave him and I show him I that I love him, it’s never enough. If we get into the tiniest disagreement the first thing he asks is “do you want a divorce?”

Advice: Read the book, Changes That Heal by Henry Cloud. There is a story in there about a man like this. Usually this kind of behavior is caused by a deficit during early childhood that counseling can heal, if he wants to heal. He may have serious abandonment issues. Read the book yourself first so you can begin to understand the torture that goes on inside him. The two of you can deal with this if you get counseling.
