My husband and I were married May 1, 2010 on the beach with 50 guests. We spent $1200 TOTAL including our rings. This was our day and it was WONDERFUL! We made it our day and our biggest expense was the food. We booked a shelter on the beach, rented chairs, had gourmet food and punch, music my husband made from his i-tunes, I bought my dress from a department store and his linen from a store at the mall. I am getting married in 3 weeks after a quick engagement time (3 years together though) I find it ridiculous that so many people focus so much on the wedding and making that fantastic rather than focusing on having a fantastic, real and loving marriage. Our parents and grandparents didn't need to spend/waste thousands of dollars so why are we made to think that we have to go into debt to have a great day? This is a great article!
