Really? Try to be an adequate person? That is some of the worst advice I have heard. There is definitely a type of person that can allow that to happen, but we should strive to be that person? We should strive to be the person that does just enough? Granted there would probably be less stress in one's life, but is it worth it? Ambition is a great thing and one should be proud to have it. I dont see the choice as either being adequate or perfect, there is plenty of room in between. I dont think anyone's goal or answer should be to reach mediocrity.

I say hold onto who you are. Don't change. Don't take the easy road and lower your standards. The advice you should be given is to be patient. Continue doing what makes you you and try not to worry about the other things going on around you. You can only control yourself. The more you worry about something you cannot control, the worse you will feel. Find something that makes each day worth it. Find something in what you do that makes you want to do it all over again tomorrow. You will be happier, your stress level will go done, and chances are someone will notice you and your work. Good things will come to you in time, but in the meantime find some patience and never, ever, strive to be adeqaute or mediocre. Be proud that you are ambitious and strive for excellance. It sets a great example for the rest of us.
