Keeping December 1st Sacred
In our family December 1st is one of the most sacred days of the year. Come rain, snow, sleet or hail nothing can stop this day so sacred (Ya, I know, it doesn’t rhyme but you try rhyming with ‘sacred’). On this day of days I enter the crawl space and haul plastic tote after plastic tote up the... >Read More

Robyn was angry and confused. She had just discovered that her much beloved roly-poly red robed Santa Claus was a marketing ploy invented in the early 20th century by Coca Cola to encourage consumerism. She was angry because she had been duped by the commercialization of what should be the most meaningful season of the year. She was... >Read More

It's Not Crazy-mas, It's Christ-mas
Many families have told me about their "Christmas Simplification Plan" - limiting their gifts to three per person. We told the Kay family babes years ago that if three gifts was good enough for baby Jesus, then three gifts is good enough for them. This tradition has kept the focus of the season where it belongs and it's kept... >Read More
