Write a Love Letter

Written by Claudia and David Arp, MSW

How long has it been since you’re written a love letter to your sweetheart? Too long? Then pull out your pen and paper. The Postal Service is still a bargain. For just a few cents you can brighten your partner’s day.

We love getting mail — with the exception of bills and junk mail. “Dear Occupant” or “David and Claudia Arp or current resident” don’t excite us, but a personal letter — that’s different.

So why not take a couple of minutes and write a love letter to your spouse? If you don’t know what to say, start by listing ten things you really appreciate about your mate. Maybe he got up early this morning and brought you a cup a coffee and the paper. Or maybe she voluntarily let you have the remote last night to watch your favorite program.

We all like to be appreciated and it’s especially nice when that appreciation is expressed in writing. We know e-mail is quicker, but it’s still charming to get a personal love letter in the mail!

Now if you send your love letter to your spouse’s office, be sure to mark personal on the envelope. Go on and make your mate’s day. Trust us, a canceled stamp can stamp out boredom in your marriage and can cheer up the one you love.
