Christmas Air
There is something unique about Christmas air. Something warm in the cold breeze and colorful in the leafless trees. I like it.
The coffee at Starbucks becomes a Christmas blend as does the tone of the conversations found there. Peace and goodwill are at odds with hectic malls and crowded parking lots… and the peace and goodwill win. I like that, too. It must be something in the air.
Ahhh, Christmas air. It is as if the season itself invites us to inhale a divine presence. The air itself ushers in a time of becoming.
Acquaintances become more than acquaintances… they become friends. Friends become more than friends, they become family. And family becomes more than family. It becomes home. Relationships become more intimate and time together becomes more meaningful. There is something in the air… and I like it.
This “something” is more than sentiments or emotions. It is more than tradition or religion, superstition or legend. This “something” is divine.
Could it be that this Christmas air testifies to the power found in the name of the central figure of Christmas? Could it be that there is a supernatural presence that comes with the mention of Jesus Christ’s name? Perhaps that is what is in the air. From manger scenes to Christmas carols, from tree ornaments to holiday cards, the name of Jesus can be found in Christmas sights and sounds. And with that name comes peace and good will towards men and women.
There is something in the air. And I like it.
