Everyday Grace (Ruth 2:14-23)

Written by admin

Sometimes we face a crisis, an emergency, and we watch for how God will work on our behalf. Yet so many of our days are much more routine, as we get up and do what needs to be done. This study will look at God’s grace toward Ruth and Naomi as they settle into the routine of life in Bethlehem.

1. Naomi has returned to her hometown of Bethlehem with her daughter-in-law Ruth. Both women were now widowed and likely faced a number of challenging questions about the days ahead as they began life in Bethlehem. What kind of reception had they found as they returned to this town?
2. In some ways Ruth was an outsider. Explain. Who were the Moabites? (See Deut. 23:3-4)
3. How does Boaz respond to Ruth? What instructions does he give his workers? More thoughts...
The time period for these harvests mentioned in this chapter would have involved several weeks.
4. Why is it significant that Boaz is a close relative? More thoughts...
See Ruth 2:20; Leviticus 27 may also help you to understand this theme.
5. How have you seen God's kindness and grace in Ruth 2?
6. In what ways does God show His kindness and grace to you today?
7. How have you experienced His grace toward you personally?
8. What are some ways you can extend His grace to others?
9. What additional thoughts or questions do you have on this study?
