Introducing Others to Christ

Do you remember those days in elementary school, when the teacher insisted that you learned how to introduce a friend or acquaintance to someone new? It was important, but at first it felt awkward. Perhaps it is now easy for you to introduce someone, whether in an intimate setting of a home or even in a formal introduction to a large gathering. Maybe it’s still a challenge.

Have you ever considered what it would be like to introduce someone you knew to Jesus Christ? What would you say? How would you begin? How do you think Christ would respond to your friend, and how do you imagine your friend responding to the Christ you know, if they had just the opportunity to get to know Him? Take this study to learn how to grow in your ability to introduce those you care about to the One who cares so deeply for you.

1. Why does God want you to witness? More thoughts...
The love of Christ compels us to share our faith. In Paul's words, "The love of Christ constrains us." (2 Corinthians 5:14) If you have experienced the love of the Lord Jesus, you will also want to introduce him to others. Jesus says in John 15:8, "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." When was the last time you told an unbeliever about Jesus? (See Matthew 28:19-20)
2. How should you begin a conversation with people about the Gospel?
3. How would you present Christ to a seeking person? More thoughts...
You may like to consider a direct, simple presentation of the gospel using the "Four Spiritual Laws"
4. What can you do to prepare for witnessing to others? More thoughts...
Pray and ask that God would give you wisdom and boldness to share the truth in love. (See Ephesians 4:15) Pray and ask that the Holy Spirit would empower and lead you to those whose hearts He has prepared.
5. What role does the Holy Spirit play in evangelism? More thoughts...
See John 6:63, Romans 8:16, Romans 8:26, 2 Corinthians 3:17 and 1 Peter 3:18
6. What should you do if a person is offended or reacts indifferently to the Gospel you share? More thoughts...
The important thing is not what you do, but what the Holy Spirit does through you. We don't have the ability to introduce anyone to Christ by our own power. Remember, success in witnessing is simply taking the initiative to share Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.
7. What should you do if someone accepts Christ after you share with him or her?
8. How does the evil one discourage you to share your faith with others? How can you combat these attacks?
