Sharing the Mind of Christ (Phil 2:1-11)

Written by admin

Philippians 2:1-11.

Have you ever wished you could peek inside someone’s mind? Perhaps it is a spouse, a sibling; maybe it is some historical figure that you’ve studied. Can you imagine the thoughts and attitudes of the Wright brothers when they first flew? What did Noah’s wife think about sharing living quarters with their floating zoo? How did Mary feel as she laid her newborn son in a manger?

We are given the opportunity to glimpse the very mind of God as we look at Philippians 2, and it goes one step further; we are to share the mind, the attitudes of Christ! This study will help you understand what characterized His mind, His attitudes, and see what it can mean to you today.

1. How would you define humility? How did God the Father respond to the humility of Christ?
2. How does your view of others and their needs affect how you treat them in speech and action?
3. What does it mean to look out for the interests of others? (v4)
4. How did Jesus Christ treat those around Him?
5. In what way(s) was Jesus like a servant?
6. How is it significant to you that Jesus "became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross"?
7. Paul encourages us to have the same mindset as Christ. What does this mean to you? What would it look like in your home or community to have His mindset?
8. In Philippians 2:19-21 Paul commends Timothy for sincerely caring for those at Philippi. How can you show your concern for others around you?
9. What additional thoughts or questions do you have on this study?
