So Little Time, So Much to Do!

Planning a wedding is both exciting and draining! Those of us who look back at our own wedding are sure to remember things that went as we’d hoped, as well as a few surprises along the way.  How are you doing with the mountain of tasks as you prepare? What is most important to you? Why not take a few moments to reflect on the process, as you face this exciting celebration?

1. Are you preparing for a wedding? Is it your own, or are you helping with a friend or family member’s preparations? How close are you to that big day? More thoughts...
While this study is primarily for those facing an approaching wedding, you are welcome to share your thoughts if your wedding is past. If this is the case, feel free to respond to any questions as you look back at your own wedding. Adjust the questions as needed if you are helping a friend or family member to prepare.
2. What matters most to you about the celebration? More thoughts...
If your own wedding is past, what are the things that were most important to you, as you look back? What advice would you give a young bride?
3. How can a wedding be a celebration of love made visible? More thoughts...
“Remember, the most beautiful part of the whole day may well be the love you have for one another and for your God!”
4. How do your plans reflect your own faith and that of your groom?
5. In the middle of a busy time, it is often helpful to take time out to enjoy the moment. How have you done this, or how could you?
6. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, is there a friend or family member who may feel honored to assist in some practical way? How could you make them a part of the celebration?
7. Consider taking time this week to reflect on one of the following passages: Song of Solomon, Ruth, or 1 Corinthians 13. Share any thoughts that encourage you. More thoughts...
The Song of Solomon and Ruth are both books of the Old Testament. Song of Solomon is largely a conversation between a couple, expressing their love for one another. Ruth is a timeless love story, the second time around. (Ruth’s husband had died, and she was facing a rough time when God brought Ruth and Boaz together.) 1 Corinthians 13 is a favorite passage of many people, and is one of the most beautiful descriptions of love found anywhere.
8. What do you find most encouraging about the wedding preparations? What is most difficult?
