Soul Cravings: Destiny

Written by admin
Have you ever thought, “I know that there’s something God wants to do with my life, but greatness is eluding me”? We each face disappointments and shattered dreams. Erwin McManus says, “Your soul can start to become dead to your craving for destiny, your desire to become, your longing to have progress, to believe that tomorrow can be better than today, that you can be better than you are.” What difference would it make to believe that God not only made you for a purpose, but that He wants you to discover and live out that purpose? Let’s consider together this craving for destiny.

1. What marked your life last week? What did you struggle through, saying “God, I really gave it my best, but somehow it didn’t work out again”?
2. Do you still believe your dreams can come true? Is there room for dreams in a grown-up life? More thoughts...
“When we dwell on the past, we tend to want to live there. When we dream of the future ... we want to go there. Our dreams are where God paints a picture of a life waiting to be created.” Do you agree or disagree, and why?
3. Can a man live (not just survive) without hope? More thoughts...
Erwin McManus asserts, “Your soul cannot live well without a belief in the future. You were designed for hope. Your soul needs hope like your body needs water.” Do you agree? Why or why not?
4. What do you hope for? Have you ever experienced a renewed hope when you initially thought hope was lost?
5. How might it change how you live today if you knew for certain that death was not the end of life? More thoughts...
“There is no disposable human being. Everybody matters to God!”
6. Is there a dream that energizes you? Can you share a piece of that dream with us? More thoughts...
“When you enter a relationship with God through Jesus Christ …you begin to dream big and live large.” Have your dreams changed over the last five to ten years? How?
7. Long ago God said to a group of people who were struggling, “I know the plans I have for you…plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) How might this message change your life, if you were to believe it is true for you as well? More thoughts...
Erwin shares, “You may wonder if he’s confused you with someone else. He hasn’t. You have confused yourself with someone less than who you are. . . . Here’s what God wants to convince us of. The life that He has for you is bigger than you can dream by yourself. The life that He has for you is bigger than the life you can live by yourself.”
8. If we choose to give up hope in our own lives, how might that impact the lives of those around us? If we choose to cling to hope, how might that impact others? More thoughts...
“You are not supposed to just passively enter tomorrow. You are supposed to be actively engaged in the creation of tomorrow. Your destiny… is something God calls you to and it takes courage to create it.”(Erwin McManus)
