Building a Video Page in WordPress
For video pages, we need to make sure we keep the titles as close to the video producer’s title. This is for legal purposes.
Note: Some titles are too long or are too general. If too long, please shorten while keeping the original idea in tact. We need to make sure that on the actual video page, you can easily view “Video produced by” on the top right corner of each video. Again, this is for legal purposes. If title is too general, please use your own discretion to make it more detailed while still keeping the original idea in tact.
Here is where you add the text for your video. This paragraph should contain a short summary of the video and lead the audience to next steps based on the contents of the video.
Certain words or phrases can be linked with a url using the chain-like button. Highlight the text to be linked, click the chain button, add your url. NOTE: All links that lead a reader off the site should open in a new window.
Next step links
All videos should have next step links, which will take a person to the next step in their faith journey. Every article should have at least 1-3 links in the paragraph below the video (linking phrases or words). At least one of the next steps should include an article with a gospel or Holy Spirit presentation and an “interactive” link (ie. online lessons/online studies, mentoring, chat, prayer, etc.)
Note: Make sure the text of the next steps is related to the context of the video. Look at an example.
Next step option – Salvation/Holy Spirit prayer
When applicable, you may add a gospel or Holy Spirit prayer to your videos. The buttons states “I have just prayed to receive Christ”. Yes buttons and prayers accompany the prayer at the end of a Gospel/Holy Spirit video or life story. After the prayer, add a gospel button or a Holy Spirit button for the person to indicate whether or not they have prayed the prayer. View our gospel articles and Holy Spirit articles.
Select the areas where you want your video to show up. For example, if the article is to be featured on the Spirituality channel/index, you would select “Spirituality” under iTV as a category. You can select as many categories as you wish.
Note: When building a video, either “Discover video” or “Experience video” must be selected as a category (they appear under iTV main category). Some videos may be for both audiences. If these categories are not checked off, the video will not appear properly.
Add key words from your video. Tags serve as a next step for the audience as well as tying related articles to your article. Tags will also determine which videos and articles show up at the end of the video as next steps. This is a very attractive feature to our audience so make sure you are adding specific tags to specific next step videos/articles.
Note: The video producer MUST be included as a tag. This is for legal purposes.
This section is where you create your url/permalink. Select the area you want your video to be saved under. First select itv and then one of the channels it best fits under (business, sports, entertainment, spirituality, family). After the video is saved, the video url can be further edited with “Permalink” field, which appears under the title.
For all videos, we need to hide faith adventure transitions because they interfere with the design of video pages. To hide a faith adventure transition, choose “faith-adventure-transition” from the drop down list, put “0? under value, click update.
- Select “Mentoring” when writing anything about chat, online studies, devotionals, or have links to mentoring
- Select “Gospel Decision” when a video has a gospel presentation/evangelism or a gospel prayer is used
- Select “Marketing” includes all other videos which are not in the other specific categories listed here
- Select “Holy Spirit Exposure” when a video has discipleship content
- Videos won’t have the statistic type “Holy Spirit Decision”
Select the video producer from list. When viewing the page, the producer name will appear at the top right hand side of the video player. It is very important that the title is not too long to cut off the producers name. It will link to the author’s bio page. See instructions on how to build an author’s bio page.
In the search box, type in title of video, click search (do not hit enter) and select it from the video images and titles that will appear.
Save video page and select preview to see what the page will look like. This is an excellent time to view your page and make last minute changes. Publish your work when you are satisfied with it.
