Soccer and Jesus
Clark Glover’s update:
This summer, we had the largest number of kids to date go through AIA Soccer camps: 1700 in total.
Now, I know we really like numbers, and they sometimes indicate success, but not always.
For example, one church went from 60 to 24 kids this summer, but I say they are a success. Why? They have been faithful to what God has called them to do: to serve their community, regardless of the turnout: At that camp, one boy who had been coming for a few years took a Bible home with him this summer. He comes from a hard family and has always hated God and wanted nothing to do with Christianity. What a change in his life!
That’s what we’re striving for. We want people to see Jesus as the power to change.
One kid came to a camp in Edmonton and is from a Muslim family. He accepted Christ at camp but struggled with the fact that his family disagreed. The next day, he concluded that he would research Islam and Christianity but he thought Jesus was his Saviour. This experience made the staff’s summer as they saw lives being drawn closer to the Truth.
Pray for us.
20% of the kids that come have never been to church. They hear about God and go back to really hard lives. Pray for the Christian kids, that they would catch a vision and discover their gifts. Pray for our staff too. They leave camp and go back to reality and are in a spiritual battle. And also pray for the churches that we partner with. We want to have an ongoing relationship in the gospel. Lastly, pray for full-time staff who could enable AIA to expand the gospel into every province.
