The Birkman Test

For over 50 years, the Birkman Test has provided industry-leading personality assessment that facilitates team building, executive coaching, leadership development, career and talent management and interpersonal conflict resolution.

We at Power to Change utilize this test on a regular basis for individual assessment at the outset of an employee’s training, as well as in periodic team evaluations.

I had a curious thought about it during one of these team evaluations: I am so different than God.

You see, the Birkman is truly an incredible tool of psychology. A series of seemingly simple questions can reveal your areas of interest, your preferred work styles, your usual behaviour and much more.

But what would the LORD’s Birkman Test look like?

In working with others, I hide an underlying need to have very personalized opportunities.
I respect positions of authority but need opportunities to explain my opinions.
I tends to put off less appealing tasks.
I must maintain a positive self-image, and tend to externalize difficulties.
I typically do one thing at a time. Weightier issues lead me to worry.

God

In laying the foundations of the universe, He has ordained each day of every person’s life. (Psalm 139)
There is no one higher, no one greater than He who cannot be advised nor counseled by anyone. (Romans 11:34)
His words are powerful enough to change reality. (Isaiah 55:11)
He equips His children with everything good for doing His will. (Hebrews 13)
No situation causes Him to worry or is too difficult. (Jeremiah 32:17)
He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love! (Psalm 145:8)

Praise be to the God who is not like us!

His ways are higher than our ways just as His thoughts are higher than our thoughts!
