DRIME is Pretty Awesome

Lillian Tarvudd, DRIME’s Director of Equipping, shares some recent stories from the ministry. She has been with DRIME for 11 years.

I want to give you a glimpse into the DRIME world. Let’s start with Vancouver. They kick off their weekly ministry each year in September, downtown by the art gallery. Recently, they had a conversation with a Muslim man, and to make a long story short, he went from hostile to ready for the gospel. He renounced his Islamic faith on the spot and said he was open to Christianity.

The Kingston team is on a winter break and will start in the spring… but that’s not all that’s going on in Canada. We had a missions team that went to Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. That trip birthed the start of a Toronto team, planning to launch in 2012.

Internationally, we had a team go to Hong Kong and do ministry in the most populous four-block area in the world. It was easy to draw a crowd there – quite the unique trip. DRIME staff trained over 150 people in mobile evangelism and had numerous opportunities to share the gospel.

Intern Beth Brown shared one of those many experiences.

I had a conversation with a girl who didn’t speak much English. A translator and I conversed with her, using “Discovering God in Chinese Characters.”

I asked her about her life and sensed that she was lonely. I asked her about her purpose in life and she said she’d never thought about it. I shared about life with God and walked her through “Knowing God Personally.”

She came to the realization that she wanted Jesus in the center of her life. She gave us her contact number and was keenly interested in getting in a follow-up call. She later confessed that she was so grateful someone took the time to share the truth about God with her.

After Hong Kong, in August, we had a team go to Thailand. We did ministry in Bangkok, similar to Hong Kong.

A couple weeks ago, I visited the DRIME Paraguay team and celebrated their one-year birthday. It was great to rejoice with them for God’s faithfulness over the past year.
