Clarke Glover of AIA Canada interviews Harold from Paraguay

Clarke: “I had the privilege of meeting Harold a year ago. We were doing soccer camps and clinics in Paraguay and there was this guy with us who was a lot of fun… his name was Harold. Since then, he has jumped on board. Harold, tell us about your ministry.”

Harold: “I’ve been with Jesus Responds in Paraguay for about a year. We are working with 184 nutrition stations. They are divided into five zones, with about 35 in each. I am working with 104 volunteers and we’ve reached 4850 children through the avenue of sports. I believe that God has really opened doors. I started as an assistant without much experience and now, thanks to God, I’m with Athletes in Action.

A nutrition station is like a soup kitchen that feeds and educates children. 3 million servings a year come from Fraser Valley Gleaners. It is here that we put on soccer clinics for the children – an experience of a lifetime for them.

How has being with AIA Canada helped you with your ministry?

There has been a lot of help from AIA. All that I know and have implemented in Paraguay is thanks to them, when Clarke came with a team of soccer players and a volleyball team. Thanks to this we’ve been able to reach all these children.

What does this upcoming year look like for you?

We have a goal to reach 16,000 children and to have 1,500 volunteers to help reach those children. We have a goal to open up 320 more nutrition stations and implement more of AIA’s resources. That is why I am here – to learn more.

How can we pray for you?

You can pray for the projects that we will be doing. I’ve felt a little stressed these past few weeks because I must complete this vision and nothing is prepared yet.
