Don’t Be So Serious!
September 18, 2013
A couple celebrating 60 years of marriage was asked the secret of their success. “Simple,” the Husband responded, “We decided early on in our relationship, I would make the big decisions and the wife would make the small decisions. That was the last big decision we had to make!”
Humor aside, some of us spend too much time agonizing over all our decisions. We need to learn to distinguish between small and large ones so we can put our limited energy where it is most needed. If every decision is difficult, perhaps you are taking yourself and life a little too seriously. Control demands involvement in everything and every decision. Having to control everyone and everything will exhaust you and could take the life out of your relationships!
Action:
Ask yourself, “What would be the worst case scenario if a decision was made without your input? Most times it is not a big deal, so don’t waste your energy on the small decisions. Start experimenting with letting go of some decisions.
