Breakthrough Connection: Beauty for Ashes
Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. Psalm 4:1
After last year’s Take A Walk prayer campaign in our inner city area, our team agreed that it was something we needed to continue to do on a monthly basis. Our deepest prayer has been that the people would find hope, that there would be something better than unemployment, homelessness, and drugs, and they could rise up out of the ashes.
This past week I attended a Thanksgiving brunch at a local church in the area we minister. Many of the local folks we have been able to build relationship with were in attendance. I was so blessed as I talked with Jim whom I first met when I cut his hair at one of our outreaches. At that time he was homeless and had told me how it was his dream to someday help to build a homeless shelter where pets were welcome. Jim told me this week that, after nine months of living on the street, he has finally found an apartment. He referred to it as a blessing from God.
The last time that I saw Bill, we prayed together that he would be able to go back to work and possibly even start some kind of a small business. This week he told me that he sold his car, bought a truck, got some business cards and was beginning to build a lawn care clientele.
Both Garry and Sandy, who had been out of work for a couple of years, had just found jobs. Sandy serves in a restaurant and Garry works in a warehouse.
Blessings,
Emmie
You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Saviour, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. Psalm 65:5 & 91:15
