Have you ever felt “alive but not really living” like the lyrics of this song? Or, as I’ve heard it joked before, “He’s not dead, but he certainly has no life.”
Sometimes we get so caught up in the daily drudgery of our lives that we miss everything that’s going on around us. Is it possible that you’ve been missing the grand story that’s being woven all around you?

When we do not ‘open our eyes’, we become blind to many things – blessings that are round before us. When we ‘open our eyes’, we are able to see what is in store for us. That is why we are told not to procrastinate! In Revelation 3:20 we read “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me”. This is the best way to ‘open your eyes’ – by accepting the call of the LORD Jesus Christ.
this song makes me look at lifein a whole different light itmakws relize what some people are missng thank God for all that lifes gives
As I watched this video again today, I thought about the lyrics that spoke of needing to “just open up our eyes” and how it took the woman “six tries” before she saw what was before her … I could so relate to how many different things I tried in my life, from following others, to reading psychology, to trying to get a career, to secular counselling, to marrying so that I would not be lonely, to taking too much medication too wipe out the pain, to trying to escape this world altogether via suicide. And all along, the Answer was right in front of me, calling out to me, telling me He loved me in so many different ways. But I was too busy being angry and convincing myself that I was right to listen to God. When I finally did listen! WOW! My life took a huge 180 degree turn, and now I live a joyful, exciting, love-filled life for the Lord, a life in which I cannot wait to get up each day to see what He has for me! Praise be to God! I pray that God will stir more people to open their eyes and send more of us into the field to gather in the harvest! The fields are ripe! Amen!
Terri, I can so relate to what you are saying! My husband is the greatest treasure, next to Jesus, hidden right before my very eyes, and one I all-too-often take for granted. O Lord, I repent of taking Your holy treasures for granted, and I ask You to inspire me to demonstrate Your agape love in fresh, new ways as You open my eyes to all You have given me today! In Your holy name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen!
WOW. Opened my eyes just like Cathy’s above. I am truly blessed that God has given me my beautiful in-so-many-ways HUSBAND of 7 years! Thank you for opening my eyes!
I agree with you, Cathy, that “Open Your Eyes” is very inspirational, and as I watched it, God opened my eyes to just what I have been blind to in my marriage all these years! God bless you for this video! You have changed my perspective greatly! I pray this video awakens others to what is right in front of them, too!
Absolutely wonderful “Open Your Eyes” – very inspirational! I will be forwarding this to both my adult children who I’m sure will be inspired just as I have – it’s a pity so many lonely young (and older) people will not get the opportunity to view this – thank you so much!
