Alan’s Story
The quest for lasting satisfaction is a tricky one.
As a student, Allan consecutively scored good grades, great parties and great women. The perfect hat trick or a recipe for utter dissatisfaction?
Question: What really satisfies? In what ways do you relate or differ from Allan’s experience with the search for satisfaction? Share with us by leaving a comment.
I’m happy that Allan was able to find the fulfillment he was looking for. Though there is something worrisome about the emphasis placed on “traitorous women” that makes me a bit uncomfortable…
Helping others is the only way to be fully satisfied.
How it was real
Through different methods, I have found the same disgust in my shallowness. I too questioned my purpose and reason for living. But truly, having that intimate relationship with God and fellowship with others is ultimately what creates being content. The greatest commandment is love, is it not? It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Glad to know you know Christ, Alan. Who ever is reading this, you are not alone in your struggle for what truly satisfies in life. God bless.
Hi, my name is Josh and one of the mentors for this site. I resonate with Allan in that I was fed a lot of expectations to shape my understanding what would satisfy me. It is a daily battle to sort out what media and culture says would satisfy me and identifying what truly satisfies me.
@Mark – thanks for your comment. Can you elaborate on what you mean by what makes you uncomfortable? I do not know Allan personally but I don’t think he meant to label all women “traitorous” but was explaining his own personal experiences in relationships.
That’s great but there are thousands of people who don’t have that experience, including myself. To each their own but one is only satisfied when one is full and to me that will come with age, not women and parties and so on. For those are just things to make you feel good about yourself while trying to play this game of life.
@Brenden – thanks for your comment. Would you say that over time you have been satisfied or are you still searching? I agree that thousands of people do not have Alan’s experience, but do you think they would want what Alan has found through a relationship with Jesus?
my satisfaction are to get a good grade in University and pay less tuition fee(since I am an International student).
Van, can you elaborate how paying less tuition gives you satisfaction? As well, have you thought about things that can bring you lasting satisfaction, things that more long term?
