Cling to the Rock

When trouble comes your way, how do you respond? The Bible says, “For in the day of trouble, (God) will keep me safe in His dwelling. He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.” That Rock is Jesus.

And Jamie Turner clings to that Rock! She’s suffered heartaches, family sorrow, and a broken spirit. She’s grieved over the death of her loved ones. She waited 12 long years before God granted her a child. Yet because Jamie clings to God, she has hope.

Psalm 9 describes her hope… your hope: “Those who know your name will trust in you. For you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Friend, in your days of trouble, who do you turn to?

Cling to the Rock!

It seems like every time something is happening in my life, the devotion for that day fits it perfectly. This time, I am going through some rough times. My son is having emotional problems and just got out of the psych. hospital and due to this, has lost his job. I am going through a period of being on some I.V. antibiotic medication and I am having some side effects from it. But I am praying and clinging to Jesus every day to guide my son through his ordeal and help me through my situation. I have personally witnessed how God works in our lives and answers our prayers. He has been there for me and I know he will not leave me now. And I know he will help my son through.

I have just recently begun to recieve the daily devotions. God is so good theyt always seem to be appropriate to the day and things I am dealing with.
Today however, as much as I know in my head that in times of distress it is best to cling to the rock…somehow I just cant in my present circumdstance.
I just had a relationship end for no apparent reason. I cannot seem to get him to tell me why.
We have been in a relationship for 8 months and at 45 he has been been my only love. Truth be told I havent had a relationship other than friendship with a man since I was 18 and found out that the young man I was engaged to who was a born-again spirit filled evangelist was also in fact a homosexual.
It has taken all this many years to open my heart and it all seemed so perfect.
Does anyone else find themselves so number by the pain and the sense of hopelessness that paralyzes and prevents you from reaching to cling to the rock or even wanting to.

I to am on a disablity and I find that there isn’t alot I can do without having the funds to do it. I know GOD is my ROCK, and it doesn’t matter that I can’t always do what I want because there is someone worse off then I am.
GOD has made sure I have a roof over my head, that I know where to go when I am in need of food(ie the soup kitchen, sally anne, etc and so on)
GOD has also blessed me with a great family and if there is something planned where everyone gets together, they make sure I am there as well.
Most diffentenly GOD is my ROCK and is there for me. I am so grateful to this fack. and thank HIM everyday for having his loving arms open for me.

this is a timely devotion,,,,who do you cling to?….Sometimes it seems like He’s so far away,,,,but we just have to keep trusting..keep holding on,,,,He will keep us,,,just stay faithful…as the song says “encourage yourself”…God is on time…i speak from experience,,,yet sometimes a hopelessness,or a sliver of doubt “silps” in and that’s when i know to call on Him and never give up….be blessed

Am praying for each of you dear ones and “see” your faith in each of these comments, too! HE is the ROCK..and when every earthen solution seems out of reach..HE sends HOPE in to sustain us all. Psalm 50:10!! HE truly owns all the cattle on the 1,000 hills and will make a way when there seems absolutely no earthen way for things to be resolved. May HE bless each of you, encourage in all ways it is needed..and increase hope every day. My husband and I going through an impossible financial situation..Some days sooo heavy, but HIS yoke truly is light as we hand over every challenge and listend for His advice and trust Him for eventual deliverence. These devotionals great daily blessings and “right on time”! God Bless you all!

    Hello, Gwen.
I know what you mean. God seems so very far away when we allow our circumstances to overwhelm us. Life is not easy and some things are so unexpected that they are hard to deal with on our own. Please remember that God is always there for us. He never leaves us or forsakes us. We must draw near to Him. I find the best way is prayer. Even if you find that it sounds like you are just talking to yourself, God is listening. When I am feeling really depressed and broken I take a shower and pray. I can cry and no one will hear me.

Other more conventional ways are listening to praise music, reading devotional books and, of course, the Bible.
Gwen, let me pray for you now.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being our refuge and strength and a very present help in trouble. My sister in Christ, Gwen, needs to feel Your comforting and healing presence, as she is dealing with issues that have left her with a broken heart. Please draw near to her and give her comfort and peace. Help her to rise above her circumstances and trust in You. Give her hope for the future that You will provide her with a new and better relationship with a man that You will choose for her.
    In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Gwen, never give up hope. God loves you and He is in control of your life.

    Sandi
