“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me'” (John 14:6).

What is truth? This morning I read an article in the daily newspaper that was supposedly the “real” truth about an incident that happened recently. Was it? Or was it another opinion?

Some people lie outright or tell only some of the facts. Some withhold information and give a false impression. Sometimes, nothing is said when the truth is known. Can we believe anyone anymore? And, we have all have to admit, at one time or another, we all can be been guilty of telling lies. Many times, we are unaware of all the facts.

Phillip Keller, in his book, What is the Father Like? wrote that what God says is absolutely true because He is the embodiment of all truth, and all truth through all time has its source in God.

He reminded me in his book, that truth is constant and unchanging. God’s truth remains the same from age to age, generation to generation, no matter how things change. God’s truth will set us free – if we act upon it. If we ignore it, our life can be wrecked – broken hearts, hopes, homes and even countries.

If our lives are centered in God’s truth, He is able to renew our minds, calmly guide our emotions and activate our will to tell the truth. His presence brings truth and can bring a magnificent purifying influence on all our life.

The Lord Jesus, the Truth, can restore our soul, heal our diseases, preserve us in peril and make us live in peace. To live life not believing in absolute Truth robs us of the stability He seeks to give to us. We can trust God to be absolutely truthful because He cannot lie. The more we are centered in Him, the more we will become like Him – more truthful.

We sometimes wonder if what we are told by others is the truth. With God, we never have to wonder. He is Truth.

Father, You alone are absolute Truth. You cannot lie. Your Word is Truth, and we can rely on it. Cause our lives to be centered in You and make us more like You – the Truth. Amen.

Questions: What happens in our lives when we embrace Jesus as the truth? How do we know that God’s Word is true?

Wow, how good our Father is by giving us the ability to accept his truths found in his word. For it is his truths that set us free and if we do not do our part in searching for such truths then we will remain a captive.

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit within this weary vessel of mine, I am able to let go of wrong beliefs so that I can grab hold of the truths. I suppose this is what one can call the renewal of the mind.

What Barbara said so true..and it is a daily “renewing of our minds” with Him. It is a great comfort that everything else in this world, people around us, circumstances may change, but HE never does. Just like the powerful WORD says..He is the same yesterday, will be today, and will be tomorrow. HE is the constant in our lives..the ROCK! His Comforter keeps us on the pathway, too..and will whisper in our spirits, “this way, that way, not that way” if we but listen!

  • Chris says:

FRAN D IS RIGHT HE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN OUR LIVES HE IS OUR ROCK.
Where us as human beings sometimes even when we say we are christians still lie through our teeth(I have had this happen to me recently).
THE ONLY ONE WE CAN COUNT ON IS GOD TO TELL US THE TRUTH.
