Rescued

“The cords of death entangled me;
       the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

“The cords of the grave coiled around me;
       the snares of death confronted me.

“In my distress I called to the LORD;
       I cried to my God for help.
       From his temple he heard my voice;
       my cry came before him, into his ears” (Psalm 18:4-6).

It was as though someone just hit her. The thought that she could die from cancer was terrifying. Laura grabbed her Bible off the hospital nightstand. She began frantically paging through it, crying out to God for help. Thankfully, the words of Scripture comforted her.

Cancer and death were Laura Walker’s powerful enemies. But the author clung to God’s promise of rescue. God’s Word filled her with peace. She didn’t know if rescue meant physical healing. Or maybe it meant the ultimate healing: taking her home to heaven. Either way, she was rescued. Death could never touch her cancer-free soul.

Friend, God has promised never to leave or forsake you. Through sickness or health! Through adversity or blessing. And now fourteen years later, Laura can still testify to God’s faithfulness.

    My Mother first learned she had lung cancer in May 1979 and had surgery. SHE was always a very strong Christian and pulled through. She made it past the 5 year mark that most cancer patients are given with flying colors. in 1991, a shadow was found on the other lung which slowly decreased in size,but by the time it did she had throat cancer. My MOTHER died on MAY 3 1994 OF TERMERIAL CANCER. She told my sister while waiting for yet another test that she was hanging on for her 6 children. My sister told her “MOM, we will be ok. If its time for you to go home then do it, we will miss you yes but we all know you will be going home to GOD”. Not long after that, MOM died.

    I know when it is my turn to go home TO GOD, she will be one of the first waiting for me with her arms wide open and a big huge smile on her face and she’ll say to me “WELCOME HOME MY DEAR”

    YES, I MISS HER, I ALWAYS WILL BUT I KNOW MY MOM IS IN HEAVEN WITH JESUS CHRIST WAITING FOR HER LOVED ONE TO COME HOME. I DON’T KNOW WHEN THAT WILL BE ONLY GOD DOES BUT I KNOW MY MOM WILL BE THERE WITH SO MANY OTHERS THAT I KNOW WHOM LOVE ME.

    ALL I CAN SAY IS
    THANK YOU GOD FOR MOM AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE ME. PLEASE MAKE MY TIME HERE ON EARTH FULL OF DOING YOU PRAISES AND LETTING OTHERS COME TO KNOW YOU
    YOUR WILL NOT MINE BE DONE

    Death had it’s grip on me but God dedided to rescue me. Thanks to my willingness to get on down on my knees and cry out to the Lord for HELP. How beautiful it is to be able to rejoice in the Lord when we know that he is the only one that can rescue us from life’s tribulations and bring us to his resting place.

    Last week I was looking forward to death but this blessed of a Sunday I am looking forward to getting dressed and entering the House of the Lord. With Praise and Thanksgiving that not to many could dare to understand.

    There will be no masks and/or painted on church face this blessed of a new day for me for the light that will be gleaming from my eyes and face this morning in church is owed to my redeemer for he rescued ME.

    May you all be in his pure glory today.

    Your Siter In Chrsit,

    Barbara

    Such a powerful devotional of the mighty power of healing in our Lord. Chris’ Mom lived way past the 5 years, and she did go on to her Lord, but was given extra time like Hezekiah was given in the Old Testament! The beautiful thing about the walk that Chris’ Mom had and the rest of us that have received HIM.. have..is that we will never die! That we will continue on in Eternity with brand new bodies. Amen and Amen. Chris, no wonder you make every day count and seek HIM!! Blessings are coming, too!

    And, Barbara, what a JOY it is to read your new commitment in Him.. You have defeated that spirit of depression and death…and you got to go “Praise and Worship” this precious Lord’s day…Am picturing you all “aglow” with HIM shining through your face! So grateful for answered prayers in your circumstances. And, believing with you for continued and total VICTORY!

    Praying Sandra has been blessed already..And know she has ministered on the church bus this day. Prayed all weekend, Sandra, and believing HIM for your needs (Philippians 4:19)!! God Bless you! We are walking in shoes like yours, here, too..But HE never fails nor forsakes..That is a Promise and is true. My husband gave me a plaque of that beautiful Hebrews 13:5 some years ago and it is a daily blessing as our eyes fall on it..because it is TRUTH!!!

    And, God Bless ALL this Lord’s day..and may it be a refreshing start to another wonderful week in HIM!…No matter the circumstances, or challenges..HE will always give us cause to Praise…To GOD be all GLORY!!!

    Have been enjoying all of you stories & comments, also been praying for you. Thank God for all that He is doing. I can’t help but doubly rejoice over BARBARA – that GOD lifted her out of the pit & rescued her just in time! Hallelujah! that is the wonderful God we serve.
    I have an urgent prayer request & God just impressed me to share it with all of you that have such soft hearts & such a love for God & people. My Mother-in-law is in the hospital dying of cancer- in her last days – and she doesn’t know Jesus personally. It is very hard to get to talk to her as she has a very large family, & a lot of company. Also, the fact that my husband isn’t following the Lord anymore adds to the situation.
    Please pray with me that there will be an open door for me alone with her, orif I should ask the Pastor to come with me – that God will just give me wisdom & His anointing to know what to do & when – however God leads you to pray. The main thing is that she would not go into a Christless eternity & that God will somehow reach her heart, even if it be by a vision or dream (that would be awesome!) befor it’s forever too late.
    P.S. I’ve been praying for her in a prayer group & I can already see that God is in the midst of it all ! Praise His Wonderful Name! But the more that pray the better! Thank you all, & may God richly bless you.

    For Barb..

    Just prayed for your Mother-by-love and know that all the prayer warriors that read at this site, daily, are doing the same! Am reminded of the story of the laborers in the Bible and how some came early and some came late, but all received the same reward…And HE WILL touch her in time for you and give her that reward we all seek in His Precious Name. He WILL be with you, your husband and other loved ones at this time! God Bless you for caring so much for her and standing in the Gap for her! I believe, with all my heart, that you will see her there! God Bless!!
