I love to get letters. Postcards, letters, e-mail. I like them all. A written word reminds me that I am loved.

Did you know that God has written a letter to you? The Bible isn’t just a storybook about God, the people of Israel, and a man named Jesus. It is a love letter from God … to you.

Way back in the Old Testament, in a book by a prophet, God left you a message. “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

When Jesus walked on earth He said, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Now remain in my love” (John 15:9). John wrote it down so that you would remember.

The crux of the gospel message is a love note. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

I encourage you to open your Bible today and look for evidence of God’s all-consuming love for you, like these verses from Romans: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38, 39).

The mailbox may be empty, but God has sent you a letter that He is longing for you to read.

Loving Heavenly Father, thank you that You have left me little notes to remind me of how much You love me. Help me to keep reading Your Word so that I will see them and remember.

Questions: What are some of your favorite “love notes” from God? Do you live in a way that demonstrates that you believe God loves you with an everlasting love?

Great reminder, when you’re feeling like you’ve been forgotten by friends & family, God never forgets his children! Our family relocated coast-to-coast, due to economic reasons, & are saddened by how quickly it seems we are “out of site, out of mind” to those back home! This devotion was good reminder that we’re never far from love of Christ.

I ask God to help me to be a good representative of him!

Thank you, Suzanne, for today’s devotional.
I agree, Michell, it is great reminder I’m west coast girl. Are you East coast now or west coast?

Megs, that is a great scripture you wrote. Thank you for sharing that one.

Love and encouragement. How great is our need. . . my need. . . and I welcome the love and encouragement of our Father and our Savior.

I have received God’s love note to me in Isaiah 43 as I have separated from my husband and am prayerfully contemplating the next step. “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name and you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned , nor shall the flame scorch you.

suzanne, thank you for the devotional.
I think it would be hard to pin point favorites in all the love letters I have read. but the one that stands out in front right now in my spiritual growth is that of Psalm 139.
    v. 1-O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
v.2-”You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
    v. 3-You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.
v.4-For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
    v. 23-Search me. O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
    v. 24-And see if there is any wicked way in me. And lead me in the way everlasting.
the morning I saw this scripture, it not only moved me, I felt God’s love within. I journal so this one scripture, from the first verse all the way through to the 24th, I entered into my journal of love letters to God as a tender reminder to me when trials seem a little too much to handle. the tears i cried when i read the whole Scripture were tears of gratitude and humility. ”I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, Marvelous are your works, And that my soul knows very well”.-Psalm 139:14.
