Problems or Opportunities?

Years ago I was sitting in a university cafeteria. Behind me I heard someone say, “I don’t have problems. I just have opportunities, to trust God!” That statement stuck with me over the years. I have become convinced it is true. Problems can be opportunities, depending on perspective.

Shortly after we were married, the first wave of conflict hit. My wife and I made the commitment to have the attitude that problems would be building blocks not stumbling stones in our relationship.

Every relationship has challenges and difficulties. A positive attitude can make a big difference in the successful navigation through each challenge.

Each problem can be transformed into an opportunity in at least three ways.

Productively working through difficulties builds strength and depth in your relationship.

Each managed problem builds a foundation to face the next challenge which will come!

Trusting that God does indeed love you and has a plan that is good keeps you focused forward to see the revelation of that plan.

Action:

Check your attitude when problems come (because they will), and ask where is the opportunity in this problem?

Decide this will be a building block to make your relationship better.

Consider your connection with God. How are you doing spiritually? A relationship with God provides an unshakable foundation in difficult moments.
