I am 19 and I am still a virgin. I have been seeing this guy for like a year and I want to lose it to him. But I am not quite sure what to do. He doesn’t seem to really mind but I am pretty sure that he wants sex. I mean he hasn’t even tried anything before, so I don’t know what to do. Do you think that I should make the first move or should I wait for him to?

Advice: It is neat that you are 19 and still a virgin. Studies have shown that many of the teens who say that they have had sex are lying, in order to appear cool to their peers. Most teens seem pretty nervous talking about sex. Sex does not lead to closeness, intimacy or feeling like a woman. Most guys do not look at a girl and say, “You are so neat to have sex with me.”

Sex was designed to bring an already committed relationship (as in marriage) to greater intimacy. It takes time for a good sexual relationship to get established. It doesn’t just happen the first time, or even the first year. However, what does happen the first time is the guy you have sex with gets imprinted somewhere in your brain; you judge all other sexual encounters against that one. It does dilute what you then have to give to the man who will someday become your husband.

So you can see, our opinion on sex is that it is great in a committed relationship, but you would be paying too great a price for a little fun now. Let us know what you think.
