Often you hear that argument that someone won’t give money to a homeless person because “they’re just going to waste it on drugs or booze”. But if you look a little closer you’ll see that the rest of us spend money on unnecessary things every day. Why don’t we apply that same thinking to ourselves? How can you help? This video explains how the homeless have problems that are within our power to fix.
Take the next step:
How to help the homeless
10 Ways to help your community
Take a lesson: Cultivate generosity
This is so good! It doesn’t matter what got someone to the place of homelessness. What matters is helping them recover. I’m not saying simply give charity, but real help. Being Jesus with skin on to people who need a hand up from where they have fallen. That’s what Jesus did, over and over again. As the disparity between the “haves” and the “have nots” continues to grow in our country, more and more people find themselves either homeless or on the brink of it — and not through their “bad” actions.
I hope millions of people see this and think about it!
Thanks Kathy! Make sure you share it with other people via facebook, Twitter, email and good old fashioned ‘talking about it’!
I think everyone should be preparied to be homeless, This is not our home so christians could let go a little to help those less than they are. I myself included. I pray Lord help me to do his will. My Lord Jesus is my supplier.
Hi Charlotte, wonderful to hear that you are trusting the Lord, He is our all in all. God bless you.
Is this video posted on YouTube? I only have internet on my phone and for some reason I can never watch videos from this website. If they are also on YouTube, I can. Suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Lindsay,
What kind of phone are you using? It should work on the majority of smart phones.

For the 7th year in a row, more than 100 recovering addicts from the greater Vancouver area
get together and go into the Downtown Eastside to feed the homeless and do outreach
Bringing the message of Hope And Recovery to the Downtown Eastside. The success of the last 6 years of outreach involved over 100 people with minimal financial and material support. We were still able to feed and meet the needs of over 1000 people each year. The majority of the people involved with this cause have a history of substance abuse and a high percentage of those people came from the downtown eastside and are now free from their addictions and are productive members of society today. It is both a privilege and an honor for me and the people involved being able to give back to those in need during such a dark and lonely time.
