Bridal Trends of the 21st Century

Written by Leah

You can feel the electricity in the air; you get to go wedding dress shopping! You have dreams of walking down the aisle and looking like the bride that you have always imagined. Then, suddenly a thought runs through you mind, “does your dream dress match today’s fashions?” Do not fear! One of the biggest fashion trends is to select a style that compliments your own uniqueness. If that means having a vintage inspired gown, or classic, simple dress then your wish is your command.

New trends

An emerging trend is to shift away from the more elaborate style to a more refined eloquent look. Square necklines and narrow silhouettes are prominent features. The strapless corset-inspired dress is still popular, but with a new flare. Embroidery is replacing lace appliqué and hues of pewter, beige and pink give the dress a new spin.

Fabrics are still in classic satin and silk, but with the addition of chiffon and sheer fabrics this season’s bride will have a light and breezy appearance. Accessories follow the up-and-coming trends with simple but eloquent jewelry. Gone are the days of large tiaras as small and unassuming headpieces take the lead.

Fashion for your man

For the handsome man waiting for you at the alter, the trend is to give a suave and debonair vibe. The New Millennium jacket puts a new spin on the traditional jacket. Coming mid-thigh and above the knee, this new jacket screams classy. Add the Windsor tie into the equation and look out — there might be someone fighting for your position. Cufflinks and studs are thick and substantial, hopefully resembling the bond you are making with your future husband.

The prevailing theme for weddings is make it your own, be comfortable in who you are and let that light shine.
