“The next day he took out two silver coins and gave then to the innkeeper.’Look after him’, he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for an extra expenses you may have’ ” (Luke 10:35 (NIV).
The story of the Good Samaritan is a familiar one. The Samaritan found a man mugged on the side of the road. He bound his wounds and took him to an inn. There he stayed with him until the man began healing and was out of danger (the first twenty-four hours being the most critical time). As he left to go on his way, the Samaritan gave the innkeeper instructions and money to cover the man’s care.
Looking at this passage, I think we are the innkeepers. Jesus saves people, binds their wounds and begins the healing process. But He leaves us to do the rest. Healing takes time. Perhaps there is someone in your Church or at work that is just a little different and the easy target for ridicule. Perhaps you know someone who has lost a loved one in the past year and who still faces the deafening silence of not hearing their voice everyday. Maybe a neighbor has lost their job or is recovering from some major illness. Then there is the family whose father or mother is overseas defending our country and the teenage who has recently given their heart to Jesus but faces such strong temptations from peers.
All around us are wounded people who are just beginning to heal. Jesus has paid the price, and until He returns, he has given us instructions to be His hands and feet. It is us that He calls to care for those around us.
Questions: Who will He call you to care for today?

Very good devotional. I lost my husband of 42 years very suddenly this year. So I am still in the healing mode. So many wonderful people have reached out to me with a smile, words of encouragement, or just being near me. It has helped so much. I hope that I can do the same when others need some encouragement too.
I read this as my son is outside on the phone talking to his girlfriend who just split up with him last week. His heart is broken..for the third time. I know life goes on and God has a purpose for all this, but , of course he doesn’t see it. Please keep Jason in your prayers so that he doesn’t do anything more irrational…He needs Jesus.
Wow, thank you for this. As some may know, it took some time to heal from some past relational hurts, etc. that I went through a few years ago. God was truly merciful to me, as He was so careful & gentle with me, despite some mistakes that I even made. However, the process has truly been hard, & although it’s been a long time, sometimes I am still healing from certain things. Thank you for reminding me, that although Jesus heals us, we also have to do our part to pick-up & do what we must do. Pray for me, that I may continually have the Lord’s discernment & follow Him closely in my life.
Thank you sisters, for sharing your struggles. May God’s Presence be with you strongly today, and surround you & your families. God bless you in Christ, Amen.
I thought I lost a partner a few yrs back scared me again a fear I still
Struggle wit it prayer for strenght and confidence that I put my worries and
Fears at his feet they are to much, for me and to gain his love, joy and
Peace, let trust and confidence be sufficient for me
Dealing with fear in our lives is always difficult thing Moniquenflack. The verse that I cling to is “perfect love casts out fear”, knowing that God promises that His grace will always be sufficient regardless of the circumstances that we find ourselves in so I can trust Him. May you continue to place your trust and confidence in Him.
