Breakthrough at the Gates of the City on Canada Day

Canada Day

Once again, Breakthrough Prayer teams across Canada went to the gates (main street entrances) of their cities to call upon the Lord for the people of their communities on Canada Day. The prayer meetings reflected a celebratory atmosphere as music, song, scripture, prayer, and Canadian flags merged to the sound of honking horns and waving by-passers.  One church in Ireland even used this same Breakthrough Prayer strategy to pray over their nation for the recent G8 meetings.

One of our leaders, Bruce, reported, “Awesome, awesome, awesome! A group of 18 wonderful warriors met at the Willowbrook Mall parking lot today to declare, ‘Let God Arise’ in song and triumphant declaration of Scripture. There was such a resonance of our hearts and an obvious unity with an amazing sense of His presence.”

Following the prayer meeting, a team in Langley went to the Canada Day fair and set up the Marketplace Prayer Tent to offer prayer to the general public. A lady named Janet and two young people stopped by.  The young couple came into the tent for prayer, but Janet was definitely not interested. However one of our volunteers visited with her outside the tent, and the conversation went well as they shared an unusual number of things in common.  Eventually she did enter the tent and was open to prayer.  Janet was so amazed at how well the prayer aligned with her need that she opened up and shared that she was currently dealing with cancer. She received prayer for that also, and then asked where we went to church stating that she definitely wanted to be in contact with us. Although she was not quite ready yet to pray to receive Christ, she was very open to taking the Four Laws and Spirit-Filled Life tracts.

This was such a great demonstration of 1 Corinthians 14:24-25: “But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.”

What an extraordinary day it was for us! To witness God at work, to be used as His instruments and to see His Word come to life was a real blessing. Breakthrough Prayer is a ministry dedicated to ushering Him through our city gates and nations, but we also want Him to break through our hearts every day and He is faithful and good.

“I think everyone left greatly encouraged,” says Bruce. “It was a heaven-sent encounter with God and precious kindred spirits. O God, set the church on fire with a new zeal and passion for You and the lost.”
