My husband’s faith isn’t as strong as I thought

husbandweakfaithWhat advice would you give to someone who waited for the right one to come along and then finds out his walk with the Lord is not as strong as she thought it was? Sometimes I wonder if he really has a personal growing walk with God. How does one overcome the disillusionment?

Advice: I hear your pain. I’ve thought about having several of my friends write back to you; sort of a quilt of shattered dreams. But I guess that the best I can say is that this is earth and Jesus promised we would have tribulation here.

Our walk with the Lord seems to grow best under fire. The story of the silver smith in the Old Testament tells that as the smith stirs his pot of silver, he needs heat under the pot in order for the dross and impurities to rise to the top so he can scoop them out. Only when the crud in our lives floats to the top so the Lord can scoop them out (confessions, etc.) can He see His reflection in our lives. The disappointments are often the tribulations.

One fine Christian man said, “To be disappointed in self or others is to have believed in self or others.” He went on to say that our God is a jealous God and He wants to be #1 in our lives. My advice is to allow this disillusionment to cause you to come into God’s presence in a way you have never done before.

Our lives are never finished; if your husband isn’t walking close with God today, there is tomorrow. One day with God is as a thousand with us. He works for and from eternity. I hope this helps a little.
